When I was young I had a crush on a friend of mine. She was too polite to tell me that she didn't feel the same way, and I was too caught up in my own feelings to see her subtle hints. When she'd finally had enough, she exploded at me in anger and our friendship ended. This song is my interpretation of those events as written about a year afterward, still a teenager.
The track is entirely constructed in Logic Pro using built in synths, especially EFM. I sang both parts myself. Originally this track was more of a guitar and bass alternative/folk/rock kind of track, but this more modern R&B/hip hop style track better fits the mood and feel. I go where the music and subject matter leads me.
I smell the sweetness of the morning air
Brush my fingers through her curly hair
Then her smile wipes my cares away
The things she said to me
The way it had to be
We see the sunrise over the skyline
For a moment I hold her hand in mine
I watch her looking for a sign of love
The tears I cried that day
What I forced her to say
Screaming at the way that I felt
Tearing at the way that I yearned
Every time my heart would melt
She was the one who burned
I see the darkness of the dying day
Realizing that there is no way
I'll ever see that smile again
